Philosophy

As an educator I am dedicated to supporting and expanding the strengths, potentials and capabilities of the children I work with.

I believe play is an essential element of children’s learning and development. Play is an essential basis to children’s understanding of the world and to their physical, cognitive and emotional wellbeing.

The Montessori Method of Education, I believe gives children the opportunity to learn important skills for life using their own interests as a medium. It provides choices within limits and allows the children to be confident and involved learners through an individualised programme based around practical skills and common interests.

For me as an Educator it is important to support children’s natural curiosity by providing educational experiences while making learning fun and engaging.

Most importantly for me children need to feel like they belong, I aim to encourage this by supporting the children to settle and to feel safe through building a secure relationship with the children in my care.

Philosophy

I feel passionate about Montessori as I feel that in a Montessori environment I get to see children developing the need for every aspect of Everyday life and not just for scholarly skills.

I enjoy that each day is so different in a Montessori environment.

The feeling I get when I see a child’s face light up as they complete a task on their own is immeasurable, the moment may not last that long but those seconds are priceless to me.

A Montessori environment provides everything that a child needs to be able to develop an inner love for learning, not by offering extrinsic rewards and prizes but instead by offering by an environment full of lessons and beautiful materials.

As the teacher it is my job to provide the materials and environment which is based upon the principle that: “education is not what the teacher gives, education is a natural process spontaneously carried out by the individual and is acquired not by listening to words, but by experiences upon the environment”
